Billing Specialist (Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Denver or Seattle)

We are seeking aBilling Specialistfor our Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, or Seattle office. In this hybrid position, you will be responsible for all components of the billing process for assigned clients and attorneys, including preparation of bills, transfers, write-offs, deferral requests, auditing, compliance with clearing requirements, and A/R management as needed. Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Implement billing procedures for assigned attorneys.

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the billing process.

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all bills. Monitor changes in billing procedures, policies and billing attorney responsibilities.

  • Ensure that assigned attorneys have satisfied all required monthly billing responsibilities in accordance with clearing deadlines. Coordinate with assigned lawyer to determine action on each component of that attorney’s monthly billing responsibilities.

  • Prepare bills from billing proforma, taking into account special billing arrangements, rates, and making adjustments as indicated. Prepare and send final bills and related correspondence. Complete audit for each bill to ensure accuracy.

  • Prepare necessary transfers or write-offs, obtaining required approvals. Prepare Deferral Requests for assigned attorneys in accordance of the billing guidelines and requirements as needed. Obtain billing review partner approval when needed, and submit prior to clearing deadline.

  • Prepare Report on Outstanding Invoices pursuant to the attorney’s instructions and correspondence, draft status descriptions for reporting, obtain approvals and submit form prior to clearing deadline.

  • Assist Accounts Receivable in the review of Statement of Accounts; provide current information for Accounting Department reminder notice process.

  • Prepare additional billing detail, breakdowns, analysis as requested by clients, attorneys or Accounting personnel; correspond with client contacts.

  • Maintain billing records and provide follow-up assistance to attorneys, secretaries and clients regarding questions or problems arising from billing.

  • May be requested to perform other duties not mentioned above.

What we’re looking for:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

  • At least 3-5 years of billing or accounts receivable experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all levels of personnel.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a deadline driven environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a large law firm.

  • 10-key by touch skills.

  • Word processing experience.

  • Experience working directly with clients.

  • 3E Software billing experience.

The pay range for this position in Colorado only is $26.75 to 32.50 per hour.

This range represents Dorsey’s good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills and location and may fall outside of the range indicated.

The pay range for this position in Seattle only is $30.00 to $36.50 per hour.
