Description

Summary: basicREC is a recreational before/after school and summer day-Camp program that provides childcare for elementary school aged children (5-12). Program Assistants engage participants in active games, art projects, crafts, sports, and many other activities. Weather permitting, most activities will take place outside. Once all planned recreational activities have taken place, Program Assistants may guide children to do homework.

  • Serves as liaison between participants, staff, and FCPRD;

  • Represents FCPRD and follows department and school policies and procedures;

  • Provides supervision to program participants;

  • Maintains program records, reports, etc.;

  • Assists with overall facility cleanliness;

  • Maintains positive working relationship with participants, parents, contracted organizations, and other staff; and,

  • Assists other program staff with various tasks.

Typical Qualifications

Requirements:

Education:High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience:Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred. basicREC Program Assistant must be a minimum age of eighteen (18) years at the time of application is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to handle conflict and stressful situations;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Reliable and flexible with a positive attitude;

  • Committed to community service;

  • Excellent organization and management skills;

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks; and

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
