Friends University Associate Academic Dean in United States

Friends University invites applications for a full-time Associate Academic Dean beginning in Summer of 2021. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Christian educator and an entrepreneurial academic leader. The position will serve as a member of the University’s academic leadership team, in collaboration with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Academic Division Chairs, and an additional Associate Academic Dean. This position oversees the university’s Academic Support functions, including the Office of Online Learning, the Registrar’s Office, and the Library. The position will also have direct responsibility for Institutional Research and will supervise the Institutional Research Analyst. The position will also oversee accreditation compliance activities for the university’s accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission, as well as provide support programs with specialized accreditation. This position also manages the academic program review process.

EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

· Provide direct oversight of accreditation and institutional research activities

· In collaboration with the Institutional Research Analyst, oversee the collection, management, analysis, and communication of institutional data to constituents to support decision making, continuous improvement, and accreditation and compliance reporting.

· Provide leadership for academic support functions, including the University Library, the University Registrar’s Office, the Office of Online Learning

· Work with senior administrators on the design and implementation of a comprehensive institutional effectiveness program

· Oversee University assessment activities and serve as chair of the Assessment Committee

· Manage the academic program review process

· Manage the university accreditation process with the Higher Learning Commission and provide support for academic programs with specialized accreditation

· Review plans and reports from all academic areas to ensure that each meets institutional and accreditation requirements

· Develop and maintain a university-wide calendar of accreditation requirements and dates to ensure compliance; regularly communicate progress towards goals associated with accreditation requirements.

· Manage the budgets associated with institutional research and accreditation processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· A terminal degree in an academic discipline, preferably in data analysis/research, social science, education, business, or leadership.

· Five or more years of full-time experience in higher education.

· A minimum of two years of data acquisition and reporting, preferably in a higher education setting.

· Demonstrated ability and knowledge of research design, statistical methods, data collection, and analysis and interpretation.

· Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct multiple projects and activities in a priority driven environment with strong attention to detail.

· Excellent computer skills, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, analytical tools, statistical packages, and administrative software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience in a higher education leadership role such as program director, department chair, or associate dean.

· Experience with HLC, ACBSP, COAMFTE, CAEP, ABET, and/or NASM accreditation requirements.

· Experience as a university faculty member.

· A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Academic rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience. This is a non-tenure track position.
