GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Assist the Superintendent with the management of overall site operations, including public relations, buildings and grounds maintenance, visitor services, and personnel and budget management. Glendo State Park is 22,000 acres, with 19 campgrounds, approximately 530 campsites, 3 yurts and seven reservable day use shelters. Glendo sees an annual visitation of approximately 500,000 visitors a year and brings in approximately $1 million dollars. Glendo has a non-motorized trail system with 47 miles of trails.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

  • Personnel Management. Hire, train, schedule, supervise, discipline, accurately submit time sheets, perform personnel reviews, and terminate permanent and seasonal employees.

  • Budget Management. Plan, project, and recommend changes to the biennial budget, regularly monitor and track budget, make purchases, prompt and thorough completion of required budget paperwork, and work within assigned budget. Accurately track and submit P-Card statements on time.

  • Buildings and Grounds Maintenance. Assess and perform facility maintenance needs including park structures, water systems, sewer systems, campgrounds, daily use areas, yurts, rental operations, and roads.

  • Equipment and Vehicle Management and Operation. Acquire and maintain vehicles and tools. Maintain equipment and vehicle inventory. Operate light and heavy equipment. Train staff to safely operate the equipment.

  • Customer Service. Assist visitors with reservation issues. Professionally handle customer complaints and promote customer satisfaction. Work with other federal, state, and local gov't agencies.

  • Public Programming. Develop, implement, review and adapt exhibits, programming, and marketing to fit the changing needs of the agency and the visitor.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants with two or more years of buildings and grounds maintenance experience.

A valid CDL license is also preferred.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance practices.

  • Knowledge of DEQ and EPA laws pertaining to drinking water.

  • Knowledge of hazmat laws and regulations, and commercial pesticide application.

  • Knowledge of Federal, state, and agency procedures on a variety of issues.

  • Knowledge of heavy machinery such as (dump trucks, fire trucks, tractors, power boats).

  • Knowledge of shop tools to repair heavy machinery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Park Management )

Experience:

0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Park Management)

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Park Management)

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt

  • A valid Driver's License is required upon hire and must be maintained for the duration of employment.

  • Water System Level 1 certification is required within one year of hire.

  • Wastewater Level 1 certification is required within one year of hire.

  • A Commercial Pesticide Applicator's license is required within two years of hire.

  • First Aid/CPR/AED certifications must be obtained within two years of hire.

  • Housing and basic utilities are provided.
