Job Description

The College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Social Work faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, within the Department of Social Work. Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to teaching two courses (6 credit hours) each semester, developing field internship agencies and placement practicum students, advising students, participating in curriculum and program development, serving on committees.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching two Social Work Classes each semester

  • Engage in development, management, and leadership of Field education as director in placement and evaluations.

  • Engage in service to Department, College, University, state, profession, and nation, and as directed by the department.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Earned Doctorate (PhD/DSW) in Social Work preferred.

  • A PhD in a closely related discipline may be considered .

  • Must have an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program .

  • Previous experience with CSWE accreditation, previous Field Education Director Experience or Field Education Liaison Experience, and 5 years of post-MSW practice experience preferred.

  • Faculty are expected to teach across the BSW and the MSW programs.

    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The successful candidate must be committed to the Bachelor of Social Work Education.

  • Applicants with current LCSW, LICSW, LMSW, and interest and knowledge in the social work accreditation process in preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer use and Microsoft Office.
