Job Description

The essential duties of this tenure-track faculty position are teaching courses in one's area of specialization, including courses flagged as introductory and advanced within the African American Studies program; conducting scholarly activities, pursuing relevant fellowship and grant funding, publishing research papers/books; and service to the department and college, with emphasis on service to the AFAM Studies Program, as well as service to the university, profession, and community.

Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate courses in English, African American literature/rhetoric, and storytelling

• Advise and mentor students, and assess student learning outcomes.

• Support the newly established African American Studies program's needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned/necessary.

  Required Education & Experience:

• Ph.D. in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or an aligned field and a clear record of teaching, research, and service; OR

• PhD in Ethnic or African American Studies, or related field with a focus on English literature and/or English pedagogy.
