Summary: We are hiring an Assistant Child Care Director to support the daily operations of our childcare center. The ideal candidate will assistant the Child Care Director in managing staff, ensuring compliance with the state regulations, maintaining high standards of care education, and education, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment for children. Key responsibilities include staff scheduling overseeing curriculum implementation, parent communication, and handling administrative tasks. The candidate should have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in early childhood education. This role requires passion for working with children and a commitment to creating a positive and engaging learning environment.

SPECIFIC DUTY DESCRIPTION: To assist with the responsibility for the planning, development, and implementation of all after school programs, summer camps, and day camp activities as directed by the SR Director of Childcare. Assist with the implementation of programs consistent with the needs, special interest and capabilities of the diverse children participants enrolled as directed by the SR Director of Childcare. Continue professional development through community involvement and further education to meet the continuing education requirements established by the local licensing offices. As directed by the SR Director of Childcare; provide in-service staff training to meet the continuing education requirements established by the licensing office. Ensure that the childcare environment is always safe and secure. Attending all ASYMCA training meetings, special events and staff meetings as requested. Must uphold and promote the ASYMCA mission by demonstrating the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Main Responsibilities

Under the direction of the SR. Director of Childcare is responsible for the overall daily program’s operations including, but not limited to:

· Recruit candidates, conduct interviews, finalizes the hiring of a candidate and trains childcare staff based on business need, licensing requirements and the best practices of the Armed Services YMCA Childcare Department

· Ensure engagement with parents, participants, peers, employees and leadership.

· Develops and maintains relationships with school district leadership.

· Participate in the planning and implementation of ASYMCA special events and activities.

· Promote the ASYMCA programs throughout the community.

· Collaborate cooperatively with all staff, leadership, volunteers, peers and communicate directly.

· Avoids gossip and sets the example by setting the example verses expecting an exception.

· Creates and implements program development by always looking for ways to improve delivery of service.

· Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with parents, peers, employees, volunteers, and leadership at all times.

· Be familiar with and implementing all regulations and inspection procedures required by local licensing offices.

· Supervise staff to make sure that they have the tools they need to achieve their daily task.

· Conduct training for the Before & After School Program, Summer Camp, and assist staff in continuing education.

· Keep records of staff training hours, CPR/First Aid/Epic Pen. Set up outside trainers required by the state.

· Supervise the scheduling of field trips and bus drivers to transport campers if applicable.

· Supervise the purchasing and inventorying all supplies to ensure all sites have quality games, puzzles, art supplies manipulatives etc. at each school site and camp site.

· Visits and inspects all sites to ensure safety, quality, and fun.

· Take an active role in planning and participating in the program’s activities (staff meeting, training sessions).

· Assist SR. Director with all childcare staff training.

· Assist with tracking attendance counts for before and after school food program and military reimbursement program.

· Assist with planning, organizing, and developing a curriculum for ASYMCA summer camps, spring break camps, Christmas break camps, and day camps.

· Participate in the planning and implementation of ASYMCA special events and activities.

· Promote all ASYMCA programs throughout the community.

· Collaborate cooperatively with all organizational staff, programs, communicate directly and avoids gossip.

· Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with parents, staff, peers, volunteers, and leadership.

· Be familiar with and implementing all regulations and inspection procedures required by local licensing offices.

· Assist as assigned with the responsibility for reporting accounting staff changes and updates to HR in a timely manner for processing (New Hire, PT, FT, Work, Salary Changes, Terminations)

· Ensures compliance with all Federal and State of Texas Laws, Texas Minimum Standards for School-Age and Before and After-School Programs and meet superior standards with the Texas Rising Star Program

· As directed assist with the supervision of the snack program for before and after school program.

· Ensure budgeted participant net goals are met by providing safe, quality and fun programs.

· Assist to track and monitor budgeted staffing wages in Childcare and Summer Camp

· Will ensure an ongoing membership retention rate of 60% or better.

· Ensure professional dress and appearance is adhere to at all times.

· Participation in the Financial Development activities of the branch; including providing guidance and support to campaign teams and/or volunteers, setting/meeting campaign goals and assisting in the collection of the pledges by year-end.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working with the Assistant Director of Childcare, plan and implement the Center programs and activities and ensure that the programs meet the highest quality standards and needs of the public.

Model and imbed the organization mission and values into all operations, and customer services.

Knowledge required of DFPS and all State licensing requirements.

Ability to respond appropriately in an emergency.

Ability to work flexible hours.

Mandatory Certifications

The Childcare Director must maintain and have current the following credentials and licensure:

30 hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership, or management.

Associate degree in childhood education or related field is preferred.

CPR/First aid certification.

Valid Driver’s License

Complete required ASYMCA safety trainings per liability insurance company

Maintain a valid child abuse history clearance.

Successfully complete the State Police Criminal Record Check and F.B.I. fingerprints screening. Results are required at time of hire.

Work Environment

This job operates in a childcare environment but is based in an office. The position will interact with children in early learning areas daily.

Travel

50% Travel is expected for this position. Must be able to travel from one facility to another and pick up supplies and visit personnel as needed.

Education and Experience

**Three (3) years childcare experience, three (3) years supervisory role.

**Associate degree in early childhood education or related field is preferred.

**DMV form with safe driving record for the past five (5) years; Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.

**Valid Driver’s License

**Maintains all annual required State of Texas Licensing training.

**CPR/First aid certification.
