Job Description

This position may pay more than the minimum salary listed based on the education and experience of the selected candidate.

To assist the head athletic trainer in working closely with the student-athletes, team physicians, and coaches to provide injury prevention recognition and treatments, to administer emergency first aid treatment during home and away athletic events, and to assist with rehabilitative treatments of injured student-athletes.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivers athletic training services to varsity student-athletes, under the direction of the head athletic trainer and team physician, including: prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries; acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries; rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries; and health care administration for the student-athletes.

  • Assists with maintaining comprehensive medical records for individual student athletes, daily injury reports for all athletes, and annual injury report summarizinginjuries, treatments, and follow up care. Supervises the clinical experiences of the athletic training students and assist the AT Program Director with otherduties related to the Athletic Training Program. Organizes and coordinates the inventory of athletic training equipment and supplies. Hires, trains, supervises,and evaluates graduate assistant athletic trainers.

  • Provides coverage of all home and away events as assigned by the HeadAthletic Trainer.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree.

  • No prior experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of NCAA rules. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Certified in the Board of Certification (BOC). Texas athletic trainer license or temporary permit by date of hire.
