Job Description Summary:

The Career Technical Education ( CTE ) Advisor is responsible for adhering to the guidelines of the Perkins V. Grant in support of promoting:

  • The persistence, retention and attainment of a CTE credential (i.e., A.A.S. degree or related certificate programs)

  • Students’ career readiness and preparation to enter (or advance) within their industry of study.

  • Effort to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion of special populations (as identified by the grant) within CTE (i.e., A.A.S. and related-Certificate) designated program.

The CTE Advisor provides professional-level career counseling and/or academic advisement and provides direct student assistance in career development activities. The CTE Advisor is responsible for coordinating internal and external partnerships to enhance services; making referrals for resources to assist in the students’ career and educational success; and serving as the liaison between high schools, students, employers and the college.

This grant-funded position is scheduled to end 6-30-2025 and is usually renewed each year, but not guaranteed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree plus 15 graduate credits in counseling, education, student personnel, or related field. Related field must be associated with or relevant to programs of study at the college.

Two years full-time or equivalent part-time experience in education or related field.

Job Requirements:

Must be available during regular Career Center hours, Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and up to 18 hours per week, as needed. Specific schedule is at the discretion of the director.

Must be flexible with respect to work schedule and site location. Additional hours may be required during peak registration times. No annual leave granted January and August.

Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
