VCA Animal Hospitals Administrative Assistant in United States

Job Summary:

  • Provide onsite IT support for doctors and associates.

  • Attend huddles and meetings, taking minutes and organizing data collected.

  • Coordinate shared calendars.

  • Manage marketing functions such as updating the website, coordinating social media postings, understanding referral metrics, and supporting relationships with referring veterinarians (rDVMs).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively to effectively and accurately communicate with staff and clients.

  • Must be friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, positive, and able to maintain a professional and respectful attitude at all times.

  • Must be able to foster and maintain strong and professional relationships with clients and referring veterinarians.

  • Proficiency in updating websites and managing social media platforms.

  • Ability to analyze and understand referral metrics.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience working in IT is preferred.

  • Experience in a veterinary hospital or other doctor’s office is a plus.

  • Experience in marketing or social media management is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Dependable attendance is required.

  • Must be willing to work beyond scheduled hours if necessary occasionally.

  • Must be able to handle working in a fast-paced, busy environment.

  • Any allergies to animals must be controllable by medication.

  • Fine motor skills adequate for utilizing office equipment such as computers, telephones, copiers, fax machines, etc.

Relationship Building and Teamwork:

  • Must be able to uphold and exemplify the principles of VCA’s Mission Statement, Three Steps of Service, and VCA Standard of Client Service.

  • Build rapport and maintain outstanding relationships with clients and pets at all times.

  • Effectively and respectfully communicate with co-workers at all times.

Reliability/Flexibility:

  • Must maintain a working knowledge of other roles within the department, as management may occasionally ask to support another role.
