NOTE: This role is hybrid and requires 2 days a week onsite in our Phoenix, AZ office.

Summary:

Our Accountant is responsible for accounting functions to include the development and maintenance of accounting systems, general ledger, asset and liability records and other financial transactions, as well as the reporting of financial and statistical data.

The ideal candidate is a professional with an understanding of accounting principles and practices and works to develop, implement and/or maintain one or a combination of general accounting systems.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares financial statements and footnote disclosures.

  • Provides, acquires and exchanges information of all levels of complexity with internal and external contacts.

  • Uses professional concepts (GAAP) to record, reconcile and balance assets, liabilities and other financial transactions at all levels of complexity; prepares financial reports.

  • Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues at all levels of complexity, ensuring internal control objectives are met.

  • Determines appropriate solutions to issues from a wide variety of sources.

  • Anticipates and prioritizes complex issues makes recommendation for solutions and escalates issues to appropriate level for approval.

  • Analyzes, interprets and summarizes reports and records for managers.

  • Is a resource to management on complex issues and non-routine functions and standards. Makes recommendation on how to streamline processes to ensures consistency.

  • Provides analytic support for accounting projects at all levels of complexity.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Compliance reporting, research accounting issues using FASB, NAIC and similar resources

  • Strong mathematical, analytical and organizational skills needed

  • Ability to extract, compile, and validate accounting information from multiple sources to complete work assignments.

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

Education & Experience / Licenses & Certifications

  • BS Accounting degree or

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics plus 2 years of accounting, audit, finance or related field experience to include accounting or finance functions

  • CPA preferred
