Microsoft Corporation Senior Executive Communications Manager in Singapore

The Office of the ASEAN President is looking to fill a pivotal role of executive communications and employee engagement manager. The purpose of the role is to illustrate the breadth and depth of Microsoft through the President’s voice, and this is a unique opportunity to cultivate the communications platform spanning business strategy and momentum, technology vision, and thought leadership. The scope includes responsibilities for community/event engagement, analytical storytelling, and content development across a broad spectrum of communications activities (e.g., speaking engagements, written communications, and social media channels).

The team is seeking a self-motivated individual, comfortable operating in a high volume and fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality results. The role is deeply collaborative. It requires close partnerships and orchestrating work across the broader Microsoft ASEAN org, key stakeholders across marketing, sales, PR/corporate comms, HR, etc. This person must work well in a team, in ways that drive impactful results, and uphold the team’s philosophy to operate with the highest levels of integrity and trust. This will require showing the utmost discretion in the management of confidential corporate information. This role reports to the Chief of Staff.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Chief of Staff and Business Manager in the president office team to develop and maintain the President’s voice, aligned to team, business, and organizational objectives. Measure the outcomes of each engagement to evaluate impact, learn and make improvements accordingly.

  • Develop social media content, manage content calendar/cadence, and analytics reporting.

  • Research impactful stories and partners with marketing, product, field, and communications teams to synthesize and translate messaging into C-level talking points.

  • Support keynote and event preparation through a myriad of ways, including event logistics (e.g., work back schedules), production (e.g., visual/video asset creation, PowerPoint decks), and content and demo creation.

  • Create the agenda and content for large format events like employee townhalls.

  • Infrastructure management of critical communications materials, spanning briefing documents and templates, transcripts, communications guidance, and other assets.

  • Use the latest technologies and tooling for building effective storytelling content and continually identifies areas to improve processes.

  • Lead and direct agency team and resources on end-to-end strategy and execution

  • Partner with the Asia, ASEAN and Country Corporate Comms team to ensure campaigns, moments and storytelling is joined up and impactful

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications:

This is the role for a communications professional with domain expertise demonstrated in practice and with a proven track record of impact (even if in earlier stages of career growth). We are looking for someone who is passionate about Microsoft's mission and culture, is known as a great collaborator and thrives in an environment that requires working across teams.

  • BA/BS in Journalism, Marketing or Communications, business or related field (or equivalent).

  • 10+ years in marketing or communications, with experience in content development, data analytics, and a passion for storytelling.

  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills (demonstrated with written samples of work). Proven presentation, speech writing, social media, and PR content development experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex and disparate inputs from a variety of materials, evidence, and long form messaging and transform into clear, succinct, elegant, and compelling communication work products (e.g., talking points, Q&A, social media content, etc.)

  • Ability to understand and adapt writing style to the President’s voice, style, and intended audience.

  • Proven ability to listen and collaborate well – building and drawing upon a wide network, sparking great ideas, gathering and incorporating feedback and ideas from multiple stakeholders and members of event v-teams.

  • Executive maturity and high emotional intelligence.

Additional or preferred qualifications:

  • A background in the tech, commercial and/or public sector.

  • Previous experience in a C-suite / Executive office in a communications role.

  • Experience working in a PR agency.

  • Strong product marketing background and technical knowledge / capacity.

  • MBA or equivalent is a plus.

  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and drive and support programs, processes, and projects.

  • Self-directed with great initiative and sense of ownership for the work you do.

  • Detail oriented and highly organized, able to frame focus and priorities as needed and manage multiple, high-stakes projects and deliverables.

  • An out of the box thinker. Comfortable pushing the boundaries creatively and analytically.

  • Demonstrate ability to work through biases and preconceived notions.

  • Have a track record of counselling, coaching, advising senior leaders with impact; exceptional business acumen and commercially savvy; intellectually curious; bold; challenges convention

  • Help foster a culture of growth mindset, innovation and collaboration in solving the biggest transformation challenges in industry and at Microsoft.
