Overview – Role

Jensen Hughes is seeking a Site Engineer, Fire & Life Safety specialized in the on-site inspection of Mechanical /Electrical systems for a complex Fire & Life Safety Project in the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia.

This role has a limited tenure of 2 years requiring proficiency in site management covering all aspects of the Project’s Fire & Life safety requirements including but not limited to review of Contractors documentation, passive/active and ventilation fire protection systems -installation, commissioning, inspections & testing. In this role you will work in line with the client expectations and compliance requirements within the agreed project scope while coordinating with the Project Manager and the team members. Expertise related to FLS review of Contractors documentation, systems, calculations and reports would be the key requirements for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Review Contractor’s Fire & Life Safety (FLS) packages based on (NFPA codes, SBC codes and GDCD requirements)

  • Conduct a comprehensive technical review Contractor’s Fire & Life Safety (FLS) documentation including but not limited to FLS/fire protection Shop Drawings, Material Submittals, Method Statements for testing, inspections, commissioning and handover of all passive and active fire protection systems

  • Conduct Building Code Analysis and Gap Analysis as required by Contractor’s submissions

  • Assess Construction site potential fire safety hazards, occupational health and safety hazards for buildings and facilities under Construction Supervision

  • Conduct frequent site inspections for all passive and active fire systems with data collection and reporting

  • Conduct testing, commissioning and hand-over site inspections for all passive and active fire protection systems with data collection and reporting

  • Conduct site survey for occupational health & safety hazards

  • Review and approve Contractor’s emergency response procedures

  • Review and approve Contractor’s Fire Risk Assessments and review emergency evacuation plans.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical /Electrical Engineering preferred

  • 4+ years of project experience covering design review, construction supervision, fire protection installations inspections, surveys, audits, testing/commissioning and approvals

  • Proven experience in FLS calculations and reporting

  • Preferably certified on all/either NFPA 13, 20, 72, 2001 codes by approved NFPA instructors

  • Proven site experience related to Fire Protection, Suppression, Fire Alarm systems, Ventilation

  • Proven experience in liaising with local Authority, Contractors, and Clients to obtain all required certificates for occupancy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to undertake work independently

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
