The Network Engineering team is a highly skilled group who work on a broad set of network technologies in support of Akamai's global platform. We provide the best connectivity to serve our customers and the Akamai Connected Cloud.

Partner with the best

You'll collaborate on infrastructure operations, new projects and installations. You'll work on the deployment, configuration, automation, and maintenance of high-end routers in support for Akamai's global backbone. You'll be instrumental in developing organizational standards to ensure the growth and stability of our global platform.

As a Network Engineer Senior, you will be responsible for:

• Installing, configuring, and maintaining Juniper and Cisco routers and switches

• Configuring and debugging complex peering relationships via BGP (policies/route-maps) as well as high-capacity data circuits and waves

• Working with vendors and internal organizations to build out large points of presence across the globe

• Collaborating with the cross-functional teams on standards and processes for deployments and updating documentation accordingly

• Building/testing/designing automation tools and templates (including Bash scripts, Python programs, Slack bots), working closely with network developers

• Acting as an escalation point to resolve any network related issues and participate in an on-call ( occasionally after business hours- would be compensated with some time hours of time off)

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have about 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's in Computer Science or its equivalent experience

• Have experience in managing and troubleshooting Juniper & Cisco routers and switches in a service provider organization.

• Demonstrate hands-on experience with BGP, ISIS, MPLS RSVP-TE in a service provider organization

• Have working knowledge of virtualization, Linux/Unix systems and Python programming language.

• Be a highly organized self-starter who is comfortable working both with cross-functional teams.
