The position is accountable for proactively soliciting and handling sales opportunities with a particular focus on driving key European markets (including but not limited to, U.K., German-speaking, Southern Europe and Scandinavia) as directed by the Director of Sales and Marketing (DOSM). Additionally, the position will drive forward the implementation of the resort sales strategy with the outcome of achieving segment revenue goals, property revenue goals and guest and employee satisfaction. Supports in driving forward day-to-day activities related to sales with a focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of property and personal objectives and goals. Moreover, the position will be required to stay abreast of source market and destination trends, and put forward ideas to drive and optimize strategy for maximum market share, room night and revenue growth. Moreover, the position will be required to host regular appointments and site inspections with key partners on and off-property, ensuring Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa stays top of mind with key partners and consumers.


Education and Experience

  • Current Maldives experience is essential.

  • Demonstrated experience selling the Maldives to European markets including but not limited UK, German-speaking, Southern Europe (France, Spain, Portugal and Italy) and Scandinavia markets is essential.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International business or Hotel Management.

  • At least three years in hospitality, with two years experience in resort sales.

  • Clear understanding of the travel industry, distribution channels, current market trends and the global economic outlook.

  • Experience working with DMCs, TOs, TAs locally and within the European markets is essential.


Building Successful Relationships that Generate Sales Opportunities

  • Works collaboratively with the sales team to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation of this strategy for the segment, in market and with the wider sales and marketing team.

  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.

  • Develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities.

  • Secures placement in key European partner programs including brochure placement where applicable.

  • Assists and drives forward the development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external.

  • Manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Works with management team to create and implement a sales plan addressing revenue, customers and the market for the segment led by the DOSM.

  • Align with and support the wider sales and marketing team to drive forward a unique and creative familiarization program for key partners, ensuring Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa is well positioned for conversion with key local and international stakeholders.

  • Support the sales team in driving forward the contracting process with key clients. Provide recommendations for contracting with key partners for commercial success.

  • Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.

  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.

Managing Sales Activities

  • Drive forward sales calls with key accounts as well as, supporting the wider sales team with their calls to acquire new business and/or close on business.

  • Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).

  • Track and report all sales activity with tangible results.

  • Participates in sales calls to key partners with members of the sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business.

  • Leverage marketing team’s efforts and communicate initiatives with key partners.

Using Knowledge of Market Trends and Target Customer Information to Maximize Revenue

  • Identifies new business to achieve personal and location revenue goals.

  • Understands the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them.

  • Closes the best opportunities for the location based on market conditions and location needs.

  • Gains understanding of the location’s primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution.
