DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

We’re searching for a Director of Engineering who sees the big picture to keep his team one step ahead of maintenance challenges. A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

  • Directing daily engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task

  • Developing a maintenance program that creates a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy

  • Overseeing physical operations – from maintenance and repair to security and servicing

  • Being flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed

  • Supervising several maintenance and engineering staff as well as tradespeople and contractors in a large, luxury, resort setting

  • Lead hotel renovations and other projects, source and negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion of projects within budget.

  • Communicate with all hotel department heads to stay informed of maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to requests

  • Carry out preventive maintenance programs to ensure the facility is maintained and in service for our guests.

  • Establish a position on how mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems need to be operated & maintained moving forward, reflecting IHG benchmarks on delivery, efficiency & effectiveness, and implement the outcomes from this.

  • Provide support and advice on the planning and deployment of CAPEX, FF&E / Maintenance Reserves

  • Technical skills that include the ability to analyze and design projects, conduct investigations, and maintain full knowledge of engineering-related products and services used in resorts.

What we need from you

  • Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Engineering (Others) or equivalent.

  • 5 years experience in general building maintenance and/or construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields

  • Experience and knowledge on Building Services (MEP) within a hotel environment

  • Experience in having responsibility for testing and record keeping for fire, life, and safety systems, taking remedial action on any Plant, Gas, and Air Ventilation equipment in line with legal requirements and safety standards.
