Our Finland locations include Vantaa and Joensuu, employing professionals supporting functions such as production, instrument and reagent manufacturing, R&D, marketing, sales, quality, administrative support and supply chain. We hire experts in different fields including engineering, chemistry, microbiology and bioinformatics. Our Vantaa site develops pipettes and microplate instruments as well as develops and manufactures magnetic particle processing systems as well as clinical chemistry and industrial chemistry analyzers, laboratory automation solutions and food safety kits. How will you make an impact?

We are looking for a Technical Writer Intern to join our User Experience (UX) team in the Clinical Diagnostics Division R&D organization in Vantaa, Finland. This is a fixed-term position for a year with 60 % working time, but we hope to make the position full-time and permanent later.

The role offers great view over a wide range of laboratory systems design activities and versatile opportunities to grow as a technical communications professional. It is intended for a masterĀ“s degree student with passion to grow and develop as a technical writer and make a significant positive impact on society. We operate responsibly and give back to the communities in which we live and work.

Our team consists of enthusiastic user interface professionals including usability and user interface designers and technical writers. We work in multidisciplinary project teams for multiple In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) medical device product lines, designing automation systems and analyzers for clinical laboratories. Our role is to ensure the desired level of usability and user experience on both software and hardware user interface as well as the user documentation. The main working language is English. This is an office-based role with possibility for some remote work. Our office is located just next to the Vantaankoski train station.

What will you do?

You will receive training to run the following tasks as a part of our R&D organization.

  • Build and update user and service manuals and other user documentation, in both structured and unstructured environments, to ensure the users have good instructions for using our systems.

  • Handle the overall manual updating processes working closely with project managers, R&D project teams and translation agency.

  • Run document reviews and approvals.

  • Perform other documentation tasks to support project execution and product maintenance.

How will you get here?

  • A final-stage student in an applicable field with studies in e.g., technical communications, English, translation studies or other subject that would provide you a good starting point for a career in technical writing.

  • Eager to learn and develop your skills as a technical writer.

  • Strong skills in leading your own work.

  • Proficient written English.

  • Teamwork and communication skills.

  • Good eye for detail.

  • We additionally value familiarity with especially DITA, but we also appreciate experience with Oxygen XML Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator. However, you will learn these as a part of the role.
