The Senior Cloud Engineer is a leader in AWS and will drive our AWS environment forward while mentoring co-workers on using Infrastructure as code (IaC) and DevOps practices. As the Senior Cloud Engineer, your key responsibility is to support our applications team by designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud solutions for the seamless growth of customer-facing applications. In this role, you'll act as a trusted advisor, driving cloud transformation and innovation within the organization while ensuring the smooth operation of both AWS and Azure environments.

We are looking for a Sr Cloud Engineer who can:

  • Cloud Architecture and Strategy:

  • Craft multi-phased cloud implementation roadmaps.

  • Implement and optimize foundational cloud platforms using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), Policy-as-Code, and automation tools for consistency, repeatability, sustainability, and auditability.

  • AWS and Azure Expertise:

  • Design, develop, and implement AWS and Azure cloud solutions.

  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to conduct proof of concepts (POCs) and implement production-ready designs.

  • Create automation frameworks for AWS and Azure cloud environments, utilizing tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, and others.

  • Deploy and manage AWS services, including but not limited to AWS DevOps tools (e.g., CodeBuild, CodePipeline, CodeCommit, CodeDeploy, AWS Config, AWS Systems Manager, CloudWatch, Lambda).

  • Deploy ControlTower with GuardRails in production.

  • Infrastructure Management:

  • Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.

  • Employ Configuration Management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.

  • Orchestrate CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, and Azure DevOps.

  • Work with containers and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Cloud Platform Proficiency:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in major cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure.

  • Have awareness of on-premises virtualization technologies (e.g., HyperV, VMware).

  • Scripting and Security:

  • Leverage scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Bash.

  • Apply High Availability and Disaster Recovery principles and practices.

  • Promote fundamental security practices in cloud environments.

  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Required Skills

  • Leverage scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Bash

  • Familiarity with Automation/IAC solutions such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and Jenkins.

  • Development of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation templates, YAML files, build specifications, and Python Lambda functions to automate AWS resource infrastructure and code artifacts.

  • Advanced Understanding of Cloud Networking and DNS. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Required Experience

  • Four-year technical degree (I.E., bachelors) or equivalent experience required. In such fields such as engineering, science, computer engineering, etc preferred.

  • 7+ years related experience and/or training required.

  • AWS Certified Solution Architect (Associate or Professional) certification.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in implementing and supporting AWS infrastructure services.

  • Experience with Azure is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline orchestration (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).

  • Container experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless computing (e.g., AWS Lambda).

  • Familiarity with cloud security frameworks (NIST, CIS, CCM). Experience with OAuth2, SSO, and identity providers (e.g., Azure AD, Okta, PingFederate).

  • Passion for cloud cost optimization solutions.

As a testament to our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, our salary bands are transparent both internally and as a part of our external recruitment process. The targets for this role are dependent on market/ geographic location and range from $165,000 CAD to $175,000 CAD.
