IHG Order Taker - In Room Dining - InterContinental® Hotel Dubai Festival City in United Arab Emirates

The InterContinental Hotels Group® properties in Dubai Festival City consist of four hotel brands. These include the luxury brand InterContinental, the superior upscale Crowne Plaza, the lavish long-stay InterContinental Residence Suites and the vibrant mid-scale Holiday Inn & Suites. In addition to over 1000+ bedrooms, the four properties boast a selection of high quality restaurants and bars, an impressive 3,800 square meter Event Centre across two levels, the 5,000 square meters Festival Arena by InterContinental, the luxurious Spa InterContinental, state-of-the-art gymnasium and swimming pool facilities. A little taste of your day-to-day:

  • Handle room service orders via phone from guests. Ensure orders are accurately posted to the appropriate guest account

  • Answer the telephone within prescribed number of rings. Efficiently and professionally handle multiple incoming calls at once

  • Articulate and repeat each other to the guest before hanging up. Use guest name and title

  • Follow established script to encourage up-selling

  • Give guest the approximate time of delivery

  • Helps in operation, mise en place

  • Knowledge and understanding to explain and perform upselling all items offered by the hotel

  • Correctly enter all pertinent information of an order including special items, cooking meat instructions, no seasoning (MSG, Salt), etc.

  • Close checks to correct guest's room account

  • Print reports and/or complete paperwork at the end of shift

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Coordinate VIP deliveries with appropriate departments.

  • May assist with other duties as assigned

  • Perform any reasonable tasks as instructed by Manager

What we need from you:

  • Communication skills – guests and colleagues will need to come to you with concerns as well as compliments, so you’ll be easy to talk to

  • Fluency in the English language - extra language skills would be great, but not essential

  • Your Time management skills will be important to know how to prioritize tasks under pressure

  • Flexibility - night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job

  • Experience - ideally you’ll have spent at least two years in a similar position in a 5 star property

  • You will have a high school diploma or qualification. A college or university degree would be a bonus, but not essential

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
