SMART Modular Technologies, Inc. Senior Professional Services Engineer in Virginia

Penguin Computing Professional Services provides essential engineering services for the integration, configuration, and deployment of complex, integrated environments involving high-performance computing, cloud, and enterprise systems. This position requires excellent customer service skills along with strong technical skills to understand, document, configure, administer, troubleshoot, and repair the deployed solutions. Most of the work will be performed at customer sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide hands-on deployment of Penguin Computing's solutions.
Participate in Penguin Computing's solutions development as it relates to implementation and deployment.
Perform in-factory and on-site racking and cabling, software installation, systems configuration, systems verification, etc.
Install, configure, and tune software applications and software-defined solutions.
Test and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
Participate in the development and delivery of documentation and training for Penguin Computing's solutions.
Participate in growing Penguin Computing's technical expertise through peer education and other means.
Contribute technical expertise to commercial and public sector sales opportunities.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux server environments.
Strong familiarity with HPC hardware, including CPUs, memory, storage devices, GPUs, etc.
Proven hands-on, hardware, software, and network technical skills.
Proven implementation/administration skills with open source technologies. In addition to deep GNU/Linux expertise, familiarity with cloud (e.g., OpenStack), software-defined storage (e.g., Ceph, BeeGFS, Gluster, Lustre), and software-defined networking (e.g., Cumulus Linux) are expected.
Experience with Ethernet network configuration and TCP/IP administration.
Experience with high speed networks, like InfiniBand and Omni-Path Architecture (OPA).
Proven implementation/administration skills with High-Performance Computing (HPC) technologies, including cluster management software stacks (e.g., Scyld ClusterWare, xCAT, Bright Cluster Manager), resource managers/job schedulers (e.g., Slurm, TORQUE, PBS Pro, Moab).
Proven application build, installation, and configuration skills, including familiarity with the GNU toolchain.
Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Red Hat Certified Engineer or SUSE Certified Engineer or equivalent.
Familiarity with any number of parallel applications available for industry verticals (e.g., ANSYS, WRF, LS-DYNA, Gaussian, Matlab, etc.).
Experience with MPI libraries (MPICH, MVAPICH, and OpenMPI).
Security clearance or ability to obtain U.S. security clearance.
