Ankura Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting in Virginia

Ankura is looking for a Senior Associate to join our growing Accounting & Finance team. This is a highly visible role that will assist with financial reporting, technical accounting and play a critical role in day-to-day accounting activities. A successful candidate is someone with strong accounting knowledge, a growth mindset and someone who is focused on innovation and process improvement. This role will hold key relationships within and outside of Finance, including key stakeholders such as external tax and audit teams. Below are some key responsibilities associated with this role and qualifications that we feel will make a candidate successful in this role. This role is remote based and working either US eastern time zone or central time zone hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements

  • Generate and/or review journal entries and accruals for month-end close

  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliation and analysis

  • Support external audits by reviewing, organizing and responding to auditor requests

  • Partner with various functions in the firm to help with analysis and reporting

  • Participate in ad-hoc projects with internal teams and help drive key system initiatives and improvements

  • Research relevant accounting literature and help provide technical guidance

    Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Accounting

  • 3-4 years of experience in large public accounting firm or similar experience

  • Proficient in US GAAP and technical accounting research

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced work environment

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • Self-motivated and deadline-driven

  • CPA certification a plus

  • Workday Financials experience a plus
