We're on the lookout for a seasoned Project Controller to join our vibrant team in Virginia Beach, VA.

The Project Controller will be responsible for all elements of project control within the organization. The project controller works closely with stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. In close coordination with Operations and the Program Management Office the Project Controller will support project setup, project planning, forecasting, invoicing, and risk management processes.

Requirements

  • The project controller is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the financial performance of projects.
  • Reconcile actual vs. budget costs per project monthly and identify any variances.
  • Track employees and subcontractors incurred hours and dollars.
  • Prepare financial/administrative reports and distribute them to customers/user organizations.
  • Ensure adequate funding availability and support timely requests for additional funding to the customer.
  • Assist with reviewing government invoices for accuracy.
  • Track and report on project costs, revenues, margins, and variances.
  • Analyze and communicate project financial and operational performance to project managers and senior management.
  • Ensure that project invoices are accurate, timely, and compliant with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Review and approve project expenses and vendor invoices.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Support project audits and compliance reviews.
  • Provide guidance and training to project managers and project teams on project financial and operational matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in finance or a related field.
  • 3 years project control experience in Federal, SLED, or commercial markets. Federal contracting experience strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience with business planning/forecasting modules within Unanet, Deltek Costpoint, Jamis, PROCAS, or other DCAA-compliant accounting software.
  • Strong skills in standard desktop applications, specifically high-level Excel skills such as pivot tables, V-LOOKUP, conditional formatting, etc.
  • Inquisitive by nature, with a strong desire to identify root causes for issues and highlight opportunities for improvement.
  • Flexible and adaptable with an understanding of the various functions, roles, responsibilities, and processes of Operations and Finance departments.
  • Experience supporting CPFF, TandM and Fixed Price contracts.
  • Knowledge of government cost accounting standards and regulations.
