Job Summary

Dorman Products is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our team in our brand new 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach. As a Procurement Specialist for Dorman, you will provide procurement support to the cross functional teams and Procurement Department to ensure optimal sourcing decisions and strategies are implemented with oversight.

This role will be onsite initially to learn about our products, understand our manufacturing process, and get to know the team. Once training is complete, this will be a hybrid role, in the office 1 - 2 days / week.

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate and work with existing and new Suppliers on New Product Development (NPD) projects and Resource projects to support strategic objectives of Sales Growth and Profit Growth

  • Oversee multiple projects to ensure proper resourcing and timely execution of new development initiatives, facilitating regular supplier calls as necessary.

  • Work closely with Central Planning Team (CPT) on procurement decisions and project statuses that impact Production Planning, Material Planning to ensure all projects are moving forward satisfactorily

  • Work with other cross-functions, such as product management, product engineering, quality and manufacturing engineering and corporate supply chain to align with Dorman corporate policies and best practices

  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from multiple suppliers, leveraging competitive analysis to negotiate optimal pricing and terms.

  • Manage strategic initiatives that monitor and improve Supplier performance by executing corrective action and continuous improvement plans.

  • Develop and manage suppliers to monitor and achieve Corporate Goals which include Fill Rate, Inventory reductions, Cost savings & Sales.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite – advanced Excel skills preferred.

  • Proficiency within ERP/MRP environments.

  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, resourceful, and work well within a team environment.

  • Ability to initiate, communicate and action to resolve issues both internally and externally.

  • Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data.

  • Ability to integrate with the cultural environment of the global supply base and Dorman international Offices.

  • Ability to network within a cross functional environment.

  • Must adhere to and maintain ethical business standards and make unbiased business decisions.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes

  • SAP

  • Business Objects is a plus

  • Automotive / Electronics background is a plus

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with concentration in one or more of the following disciplines: Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Business

  • 2+ years’ Supply Chain related experience
