Mythics, Inc. Director, Marketing in Virginia Beach, Virginia

The Director, Marketing is responsible for internal oversight of the marketing department staff and marketing initiatives across two brands (Mythics and Emergent) and internal brand needs (HR). This role requires collaboration with business unit leaders and external marketing consultation on the strategic development, execution, tracking, and measurement of an annual marketing plan that consistently improves the enterprise’s competitive position in the marketplace with the goal to increase the company’s market share and revenue.

The Director, Marketing employs own strategic marketing experience and passion for technology to develop marketing plans and approaches for public sector audiences. This role drives creativity and enthusiasm in others and contributes innovative ideas across all brands. The Director, Marketing remains knowledgeable and is the company’s SME in current marketing trends, tools and vernacular across all offline and online platforms to effectively execute this role.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Work directly with the Business Unit Leaders and external marketing consultant on both external and internal communications to key stakeholders, end-user customers, manufacturers, providers and partners

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies, plans, product rollouts and other initiatives to create awareness of the enterprise’s products, services and value proposition, with the goal to grow market share

  • Organize and supervise marketing teams, including hiring, training, workloads, schedules and deadlines, monitor and oversee their progress, provide constructive guidance and feedback to ensure strategies are successfully rolled out, and submit performance reports

  • Work across all departments to develop successful omnichannel marketing strategies and campaigns that attract, nurture, and retain customers and referral sources and be able to show measurable results via standardized key performance indicators

  • Conduct customer, brand, product, and competitor research to keep abreast of market trends

  • Create and maintain a successful brand image, value proposition message, and reputation across all initiatives that comply with enterprise standards, positions the brands as thought leaders, and attracts customers and referral sources

  • Budgeting:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to make decisions regarding the budget and the direction of the company

  • Develop and manage marketing budgets and allocate resources amongst projects; review all invoices for external resources for accuracy and contract compliance prior to approving and submitting for payment

  • Analyze sales numbers in comparison to the marketing budget in order to find the profit margin and which campaigns were most effective and share that information in a productive, actionable manner

  • Ensure team maintains complete and properly documented files for all assigned projects, including contributing to knowledge base

  • Present weekly reports on and feedback to executive stakeholders and business leaders; compile data, analyze trends and articulate learnings and results

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing communications or equivalent professional experience

  • 10+ years of professional marketing experience

  • 5 years in a supervisory role, responsible for team results

  • Demonstrated expertise in effective communication using digital platforms

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing omnichannel marketing campaigns for technology or other product-based companies

  • Skilled in lead generation marketing with ability to craft integrated marketing strategies across all channels and touchpoints, including website, print communications, and online communications

  • Working experience with job-related software applications including those for content marketing, content management, automation, CRM, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, HubSpot, Salesforce or similar platform

  • Experience running large scope projects with cross-over departments and large teams

  • Experience in Business to Government (B2G) marketing


Travel may be required to participate in regional meetings and to attend national events, trade shows and conferences.

  • Exceptional writing, visual communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; competency when communicating in writing, visually or when presenting to various internal and external audiences

  • Highly organized, data and results driven, detail oriented, and capable of handling several initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to define goals and then work collaboratively to build and execute toward those goals via establishing and monitoring analytics that obtain measurable results

  • Strong team player, self-motivated, with enthusiastic disposition

  • Up to date with current offline and online marketing techniques, tools, and best practices
