Atlantic Diving Supply, Inc. Category Manager- Communications in Virginia Beach, Virginia

We are seeking a self-starter to lead and own revenue generation for our Communications portfolio. The role will require a team player that is responsible for sustainable growth within the Tactical, Land mobile and Satellite communications segment across all ADS sales channels. An effective Category Manager understands and can articulate ADS' niche in the marketplace, the industrial base partnerships required to be successful and that understanding into an effective go-to-market strategy that increases revenue. The right candidate will deliver value through strategic planning, effective negotiations and sales execution. The Category Manager will build strong partnerships with external/internal stakeholders to identify new opportunities,negotiate cost savings and return profits on time invested. Vast competencies and knowledge in contract development, including key contracting principles, standard terms, and a strong grasp on industry trends and standards will be expected. Position may have direct reports.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Generate new opportunities with existing suppliers and customers
  • Find and new customers and opportunities in the segment
  • Build robust pipeline and forecast of business opportunities in your segment
  • Provide leads to sales team and support those leads during sales cycle and longer-term business development efforts
  • Develop, present and execute strategic growth plan; assess and track status quarterly

VENDOR MANAGEMENT

  • Negotiate preferred terms with new and existing suppliers to maximize overall returns
  • Manage complex contract negotiations and liaise with our legal group
  • Identify new supply chain partners and assess viability of partnership
  • Maintain deep relationships with vendor community - continually reinforce ADS value proposition

PRODUCT EXPERTISE

  • Increase vendor portfolio with emerging tech and sought-after equipment
  • Stay abreast of new products in category while keeping existing product offerings fresh
  • Be resident expert on segment offerings
  • Maintain presence within technical community
  • Research user requirements to focus on solutions that will yield maximum results
  • Work with ADS Training to educate Sales on solutions available

TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS

  • 30-60% TRAVEL REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree Required; Master's degree preferred
  • 5-10 years' experience with US Government contracting and acquisition
  • 5 years' experience with defense communication sector
  • 2 years' successful experience in business development, sales or program management
  • Must demonstrate DRIVE and ability to solve problems independently
  • Must be HUNGRY to create opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to exceed sales quota
