NJ Employer Nursery Worker in Vineland, New Jersey

Three-month experience in manually planting, cultivating, harvesting, trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennials, greenhouse, and nursery work. Valid drivers license required to operate vehicles. Workers must be 18 years or older.
Manually plant, cultivate, trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennials and general nursery work. Manually plant, cultivate, (staking & tying) harvest vegetables, fruits, horticultural specialties, and field crops. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include tilling soil and applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, trimming, spacing, loading, and unloading all crops. Applying pesticides; or cleaning, grading, sorting, and loading harvested products. May construct trellises, do minor repairs to fences and farm buildings, repair greenhouses or participate in irrigation activities. Packing House is part of the farm. Prune, take cuttings for propagation, load trucks, repair drip irrigation, nursery and greenhouse work, transplanting, trimming, spacing, plant propagation, spray, irrigation maintenance, and clean productions areas and facilities. Plant produce by hand placing into pre-dug holes along rows. Workers will stake and tie and also remove stakes, strings, and plastics. Operate, perform minor repairs, clean and maintain farm equipment and vehicles. Machine harvest blueberries. Inform managers of c4rop progress. Assist with Good Agricultural Practices policies. Workers are expected to posses the skill work in the production of crops listed. The introductory period for all work and to familiarize workers with job specifications and to demonstrate proper harvest methods and other crop specific issues. Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by the supervisor. Workers must take care to handle tools, equipment, and produce in a manner to avoid injury or damage. The employer will comply with all federal, state, and local safety requirements. Operational specifications can change during the season due to crop or market condition. Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given for each day's work. Instructions and general supervision will be provided by the employer or a designated employee. Workers will have close supervision to ensure adherence to instructions. Work will be closely monitored and reviewed for quality. Daily individual work assignments, crew assignments, and location of work will be made by the employer or designated employees as the needs of the operation dictate. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and different tasks on different days. Workers may transport the crop to the packing house which is part of the farms. Only workers meeting all qualifications on the job order should be referred by the Job Service Office. Once the applicant has a copy of the job contract they may call and/or email the employer to schedule an interview from 7am to 6pm any day of the week
