Job Title: Transportation Engineer

Job Description

This position is available in the following locations: Vienna, VA (Northern Virginia), Richmond, VA, and Virginia Beach, VA. You will be part of an integrated architecture and engineering firm with a rich history and commitment to transformative design. You will collaborate with a transdisciplinary team to shape ideas that transform our world, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and measured growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various aspects of Transportation design as directed by a licensed Transportation Engineer or Senior Transportation Engineer, including analysis and design involving interstates and interchanges, urban and rural roadways, multimodal improvements, traffic engineering, site grading, storm water management, erosion control, and site plan preparation.

  • Prepare programming documents, schematic documents, design development documents, and construction documents as directed.

  • Coordinate and communicate with design team members to ensure Transportation design details integrate properly with the work of all other project disciplines.

  • Prepare marketing and presentation materials as directed.

  • Perform Transportation services associated with the bidding process, including preparing addenda and amendments and opening and tabulating bids as directed.

  • Perform Transportation services associated with the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings as directed.

  • Comply with quality control policies and procedures.

  • Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other team members.

  • Research standards and specifications based on project requirements.

  • Work with, respond to, and take direction from Senior Transportation Engineers, Project Managers, and Design Managers.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering, or Civil Engineering Technology.

  • 1+ years of transportation engineering experience including designing roadways and associated infrastructure, development of manual calculations and analytical models for transportation analysis and design purposes, development of construction documents (drawings and specifications), coordination with other design team members, and experience in responding to construction phase queries and submittals.

  • Working familiarity with design and production software such as GeoPak, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.

  • Experience with traffic operations, microsimulation, and travel demand forecasting is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of traffic engineering programs such as VISSIM, Synchro, and Transmodeler is a plus but not required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $50.48
