Job Summary:

SAVA is currently in search of a highly skilled and seasoned Chief Engineer to spearhead our critical facilities maintenance team. The Chief Engineer will play a pivotal role in comprehending the engineering dynamics of our client's facility, encompassing equipment functionality, system optimization, and proposing enhancements. They will delve into methods aimed at enhancing overall facility energy conservation while overseeing both technical and administrative aspects for a team of technicians dedicated to supporting critical system operations and infrastructure equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include managing a Critical Facilities Team comprised of 8-10 Critical Facilities Technicians for a 24/7/365 mission to uphold data center and office operations.

  • This entails ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and Statement of Work, as well as orchestrating the activities of the mission-critical facilities department to facilitate day-to-day operations and preventive maintenance duties, while safeguarding the reliability of facilities equipment and systems.

  • Compliance with all Local, State, and Federal codes is imperative, as is the oversight of the facility Safety program to ensure stringent adherence to all policies and procedures.

  • Additionally, the Chief Engineer will be tasked with developing and implementing a comprehensive training and cross-training program while fostering collaboration with clients and other departments.

  • They will evaluate work performance through computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and products to ensure alignment with standards, schedules, and specifications.

  • Providing constructive feedback and assessing employee performance and competencies will also be essential aspects of the role.

  • The ideal candidate should possess technical expertise in each of the major disciplines outlined, along with the ability to generate clear and precise documentation and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology (Preferred).

  • Minimum of 7 documented years of experience in facilities of similar size and scope.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a lead role.

  • Extensive experience in the operation of Building Automation Systems of similar size and scope.

  • Active a Top-Secret security clearance.

  • Strong understanding of Critical Facilities Operations equipment to include but not limited to: electrical switchgear, MCCs, diesel generators, HVAC/CRAC systems, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, BMS systems, SCADA and fire detection and suppression systems.

  • Extensive experience in a 24/7/365 critical facility environment, including troubleshooting, management, and mentoring of skilled professionals.

  • Extensive hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting large commercial and industrial mechanical & electrical systems.

  • Understanding of power distribution and control systems, redundancy, resiliency, and protection

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as excellent organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook

  • Willingness to supervise and perform on-call emergency service.

  • Strong background in electrical and mechanical systems design review, layout, installation, commissioning, and operations.

  • Expert knowledge of low voltage systems, including fire, security, and PLCs

  • Expert knowledge of NFPA Electrical, Fire and Life Safety and building codes

  • Expert knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25 and compliance issues

  • Expert knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e., lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA, and state regulations).

Desired Qualification:

  • Experience managing a Critical Facilities Department

  • Experience auditing facility maintenance records to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

  • Experience composing general/professional correspondence.

  • Experience coordinating, scheduling and managing vendors and subcontractors.

Physical Demands:

  • Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with verbal, visual and listening skills

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds.

  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required equipment as well as to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platform.
