Willow Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Home LPN PT in Vestal, New York

Licensed Practical Nurse - The work involves responsibility for performing nursing services in the care and treatment of residents. Direct supervision is received from a Charge Nurse. Supervision may be exercised over Nursing Assistants and unit helpers. Does related work as required. <P> TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: <LI> Assists new residents in adjusting to unit, philosophy and goals of Willow Point Nursing Home. <LI> Report to Charge Nurse any accident or change of condition of resident and documents on progress notes in chart. <LI> Discusses clinical issues regarding resident care with Charge Nurse. <LI> Works as a member of the interdisciplinary team to Assist with preparation, implementation and continuing evaluation of the care plan. <LI> Observes, records and reports progress or any change in resident's condition. <LI> Updates the care plan as needed. <LI> Carries out therapeutic treatments. <LI> Administers and dispenses medications (with exception of I.V.) to residents, observing for side effects and effectiveness. <LI> Secures/accounts for control drugs. <LI> Maintains nursing care and administrative records and reports. <LI> Attends staff meetings and in-service programs. <P> FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSON CHARACTERISTICS: <LI> Working knowledge of current nursing practice. <LI> Skill in the application of current practical nursing procedures and techniques of resident care. <LI> Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. <LI> Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. <LI> Dependability, resourcefulness, good observation skills and professionalism <LI> Ability to operate medical equipment (e.g., suction machine, oxygen units, vaporizer); <LI> Ability to maintain detailed records and prepare reports; <LI> Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. <P> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <LI> Completion of a course of study approved by the New York State Education Department as qualifying for Licensed Practical Nurse and licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State; or <LI> Completion of a course of study approved by the New York State Education Department as qualifying for Licensed Practical Nurse and a limited permit to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State. Possession of license within six months of appointment. <P> LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE--contd. 2 <LI> EXEMPTIONS: Graduates of New York State nursing education programs who have applied for licensure and a limited permit may be employed to practice under the supervision of a registered professional nurse for 90 days immediately following graduation and pending receipt of a limited permit. The permittee must submit the employer's copy of the limited permit to the employer as soon as it is received. <P> Requirements - <LI> Medical Exam. <LI> Reference Check.
