The hospitals provide state-of-the-art treatment that is recovery-oriented and science-based. Whether in a direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a difference in the life of a Texan. The Mental Health Specialist II Work Hours are Mon - Fri, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The Mental Health Specialist II performs complex counseling or psychological work. Clinically and administratively supervised by a licensed psychologist. Works under moderate supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work involves psychological testing, group therapies; counseling; reporting and assessments, recovery team participation with duties of coordinating recovery planning. Works directly with Program Recovery Teams and involved in training of unit employees. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with ethical standards, departmental rules and standards of external agencies. Must understand that duties, location of work and shift pattern are subject to change and/or determined by administration to meet the needs of the Hospital. Must understand that duties may include exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material. Employee actively participates and/or serves in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Supports the mission and vision of the facility.Essential Job Functionsand#149;Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. - (40%) Performs psychological assessments/testing protocols as assigned in order to assist in recovery planning and outcome measures. Includes but not limited to psychological assessments, COPSD assessments, Aggression Typology assessments/reviews, other clinical referrals. - (35%) Provides group and individual therapy to patients as assigned in order to maximize recovery effect. -(15%) Attends assigned committee meetings in order to participate in achieving the goals of the hospital. - (5%) Physical ability to perform full contact TIPS and CPR and#150; (5%). Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certificationsand#149;Must possess valid Texas driverand#146;s license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date.
