UCLA Health Medical Assistant III - evening shift in Venice, California

Come join our dedicated and caring team of professionals as a Medical Assistant III. With guidance and direction from our staff R.N. and L.V.N., the Medical Assistant will:

  • Assist clinical staff at our primary care clinic in the delivery of health care to our clinic population.

  • Interview patients, take vital signs, room patients for providers, and record services in patients' charts.

  • Perform phlebotomy and tests for hemoglobin and one-touch blood sugar levels.

  • Collect, process, and send paperwork and samples for laboratory processing.

  • Perform in-clinic procedures for visual acuity, audiometry, baby sound check, etc.

  • Provide immunizations, nebulizer/breathing treatments, Tylenol and antibiotics as ordered by our providers and per protocol.

  • Assist with inventory maintenance of clinical stock and supplies, and order as needed.

  • Provide pregnancy and contraceptive counseling.

  • Assist with exams and translate between Spanish and English for providers as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned and within legal scope of practice.

Salary range: $28.06 - $37.02 HourlyQualifications

Required:

  • Documented evidence of completed Medical Assisting training and Medical Assistant Certificate.

  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)/CPR card and Phlebotomy Certification.

  • Effective English and Spanish communication skills.

  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and laboratory procedures.

  • Skill in administering injections and immunizations.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of general medical and laboratory procedures.

  • Ability to work collaboratively, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact in a professional manner with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

  • Ability to float to other facilities within Los Angeles County as needed.
