The Director of Workforce Development at Empire State University will lead the strategic planning, development, and execution of non-credit educational offerings that align with the university's mission to provide accessible, high-quality learning opportunities to diverse populations. This role requires a visionary leader who can expand the university's reach and impact through innovative non-credit programs that cater to lifelong learners, professionals seeking skill development, and community enrichment.

Representative duties include:

  • Develop and manage a diverse portfolio of non-credit programs that meet workforce development market demands and the strategic goals of Empire State University.

  • Design and implement pathways that integrate non-credit programs into credit-bearing curricula through strategic partnerships, enhancing workforce readiness and educational access.

  • Collaborate with faculty and industry leaders to design innovative programs that serve NYS and community workforce development needs.

  • Utilize Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) methods to recognize and credential students from non-credit to credit-bearing programs to enhance pathway effectiveness.

  • Oversee program logistics, including scheduling, staffing, and resource management.

  • Coordinate with our marketing and outreach team to develop a non-credit communications plan that will attract students and business partners.

  • Manage budgets to ensure programs are financially viable and adhere to university policies.

  • Evaluate program outcomes to better enhance participant satisfaction and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure all programs comply with university standards and accreditation requirements.

  • Additional duties as assigned by the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or business administration or a related field.

  • Proven experience in adult education and workforce development.

  • Extensive experience in program development and management, preferably in a higher education setting.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education or business administration, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with online education platforms.

  • Knowledge of accreditation processes and standards.

  • A track record of successful grant writing and fundraising for educational programs.

Special Information:

  • Occasional travel will be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.

  • Some evening and/or weekend engagement with stakeholders is required.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Additional Information:

Rank/Salary: Staff Associate, SL4 / $80,00-$85,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
