Eaton Corporation Senior Validation Automation Engineer in Vantaa, Finland

Eaton´s new campus for its critical power systems in Vantaa, Finland, integrates all current activities into a much larger site. Campus is completed by the end of 2023, and the 16,500 m² site will house research and development, manufacturing, warehousing, sales and service under one roof and will create up to 100 additional jobs.

As one of the world’s largest manufacturers of three-phase uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), Eaton’s expansion in this area is driven by strong business growth and the demand for systems that ensure business continuity. Situated in a prime location next to the Helsinki airport, the Vantaa facility will serve as Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions headquarters and a center of excellence for data centers.

What you’ll do:

In this role you are going to develop and design automated validation and verification of UPS units and systems while implementing and verifying the functionality of automated testing environment and test processes. Your responsibilities will also include the development of the laboratory to function effectively while following correct procedures and health and safety guidelines. We also expect you to provide support and coaching for junior colleagues.

Job responsibilities:

  • Development of test environment within the electrical laboratory enabling test automation.

  • Designing and implementing test automation as part of UPS verification and validation.

  • Test planning, building of test setups, testing these systems and documenting the results.

  • Provide technical support to other functions.

  • Overseeing safety and condition of laboratory equipment.

  • Participate to laboratory management (CTF2 activities).

  • Cooperation with Eaton test organizations around the world.

  • Follow requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 2017 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories).

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Power Electronics or Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic product electrical testing and/or design

Skills:

  • Experience with the most common test automation environments such as test stand or robot framework

  • Electrical system knowledge: UPS installations and safety.

  • Understanding of embedded firmware.

  • Familiar with common tools and methods to work in high power lab environment: oscilloscope, power analyzer and meters.

  • Self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.
