Vancouver Public Schools Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) Teachers in Vancouver, Washington

Description: Supporting students across self-contained and learning support programs

7 positions available (3 elementary, 2 middle, 2 high)

Substitute employees hired for these positions will be paid the substitute rate.

These positions are temporary through the 2023-2024 school year

Position Description:

  • Four weeks, July 15, 2024 – August 8, 2024, Monday - Thursday. Academic day: 3 hours instructional time, plus one-hour prep/supervision. Times will vary based on transportation and location sites

  • Planning: Teachers plan for overall instruction

  • Salary: Per Diem hourly rate

  • Consideration will be given to teachers whose regular work assignment falls within the special education specific curriculum, including grade level & program

    Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State certification for the appropriate subject area- special education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; Master's preferred

  • Current or recent experience providing instruction to special education students

    Essential Functions:

  • Implements specially designed instruction and data collection

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and relates well to students

  • Provides an instructional program for students designed to meet their individual needs

  • Designs and implements multiple forms of student assessment

  • Responsible for student attendance, specially designed instruction for each student’s IEP, data collection, and student progress reports

  • Works cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse

  • Works in a flexible and cooperative manner

  • Treats co-workers, supervisors, students, parents, and others with dignity and respect at all times

  • Serves as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students

  • Other duties as assigned
