C-2 Utility Contractors Equipment Operator in Vancouver, Washington

Overview and Essential Functions

The Equipment Operator will work out of our office in Vancouver, WA and will complete duties related to telecommunications construction assigned under general supervision and be responsible for leading a crew and operating equipment to repair, replace, and install underground telecommunication construction.

Pay: $25 - $34 per hour

What you’ll do:

  • Provide communication and direction to crew members

  • Implement and perform steps to complete jobs in a timely manner

  • Performing duties of operator and/or laborer

  • Operate construction equipment including but not limited to: Backhoe/Excavator, Skid Steer, Tractor Trailer (Moving equipment/Haul Water), and Vac Truck/Trailer

  • Meeting daily production goals

  • Conducting daily walk-throughs

  • Ensuring DOT documentation

  • Monitoring and adhering to all safety processes and procedures

  • Maintaining and submitting required reporting

  • Directing the set up of the safety perimeter using signage, cones and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic

  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Who we are looking for:

  • Previous experience in a similar position with a focus on crew leadership

  • Experience in Telecommunications is preferred, but not required

  • Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to give descriptive and respectful direction

  • Must have good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Must be very safety conscientious

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with crew, customers and vendors

  • Basic computer skills required

  • A valid drivers license required with a good driving record is required

  • Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement is a plus (Higher wage scale apply to CDL holders)

  • May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed

Physical Requirements:

  • Climb up and down ladders, machinery, and other objects

  • Push, pull, reach, and frequently carry objects such as tools, materials and equipment weighing up to 80lbs

  • Load and unload tools and equipment on truck

  • Coordinate movement of eyes, hands, fingers, and feet

  • Work at different heights

  • All work is outdoors and subject to inclement weather conditions.
