PBS Engineering and Environmental Construction Inspector in Vancouver, Washington

We are currently seeking to add a 

Construction Inspector

 to our dynamic team in 

Vancouver, Washington.

 

$35-$43 hourly, full-time, 100% in field with benefits

As a Construction Inspector, you will ensure projects are thoroughly inspected and in compliance with contract plans and specifications, including environmental requirements. This role will help identify issues with contract plans or construction in progress and will be integral in communicating and coordinating resolutions to these issues.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Minimum qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (relevant certifications or coursework in construction-related fields is a plus)  
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and communicate issues effectively  
  • Basic understanding of construction principles, techniques, and materials  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team  
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes  
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a state-issued vehicle legally and safely (pick-up truck, van, or auto) as needed.  
  • Ability to traverse uneven surfaces, work in confined spaces, climb ladders to access incomplete structures, and lift up to 35 pounds; sit or stand for extended periods of time.  

Desirable Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in construction inspection or materials testing or related field  
  • Ability to read and interpret contract plans and specifications, including environmental permits and requirements.  
  • Able to interpret contract plans and determine contractor compliance.  

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Interpret construction plans, specifications, and special provisions; perform layout as required;  
  • Review contractor submittals for compliance with contract documents.  
  • Monitor the contractor's work for one or more major aspects of a project, such as excavation, embankment, grading, drainage, asphalt and concrete paving, illumination, signals, signing, and pavement markings;   
  • Measure and calculate quantities, and prepare notes to support payment for activities inspected;   
  • Observe and document all aspects of work performed by contractors, determine contract changes as it relates to inspection; calculate quantities of incorporated materials.   
  • Ensure materials are thoroughly tested and approved before, or during the construction process, as required.
