UrbanLogiq Software Engineer - Security, Cloud, and Monitoring in Vancouver, Canada

Software Engineer - Security, Cloud, and Monitoring

UrbanLogiq offers an integrated data visualization and analytics platform to governments. Founded in 2016, UrbanLogiq is one of the global govtech industry's fastest-growing start-ups and we want you to join our team.

UrbanLogiq exclusively serves public government agencies providing them with cloud-based SaaS solutions that help them better create, manage, use, and consume insights from data, making government services more efficient and effective.

Our mission is to democratize cutting-edge data science and software services for governments of all shapes and sizes paving the way for stronger, safer, better-connected communities. UrbanLogiq's award-winning software is currently used by government agencies across Canada and the US.

What You Will Do

This job builds the glue that holds our platform together. You will be an active contributor to the product, specifically around areas that impact security and identity.

You love metrics. You love data. You want to gather it and graph it and set alerts on it. You think our existing SLOs aren't good enough and want to find another 9.

You want to automate the toil. You want to spend your time working on more high value tasks. But you also know there's a limit where it's not worth it either.

You know your infrastructure. You know how to get the team the cloud resources they need while making sure that we don't bankrupt the company doing so.

You have customer empathy and a passion for helping governments to make data-driven decisions. You will meet directly with clients and internal stakeholders to coordinate SSO and other integrations with client systems.

You are eager to mentor other team members and grow their infrastructure knowledge and skills. You will level-up our entire organization in terms of SRE practices.

Position Requirements

  • A technical degree (computer science, mathematics, statistics, or physics), or equivalent work experience as a site reliability engineer

  • Experience developing with statically typed languages like Go or Rust, and scripting languages like Python

Nice to Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform

  • Hands-on experience hooking up SSO either with OIDC, SAML, or both.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with end users and other stakeholders on technical implementations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate on technical topics with non-technical audiences.

  • A desire to mentor team members and grow the live service experience and skills of the entire team.
