The AWS Infrastructure Sustainability Tech team is seeking a passionate, results-oriented Software Development Manager to lead the delivery of customer-facing sustainability products. The AWS Infrastructure Sustainability Tech organization builds solutions to integrate sustainability data across AWS infrastructure and operations and support AWS customer's sustainability goals, AWS' progress towards net zero carbon goal, renewable energy management, and other cross-cutting sustainability objectives. A successful candidate will have high influence across dependent technical teams and sustainability stakeholders to make strategic trade-offs between short-term opportunities and long-term customer and industry trends. Your responsibilities will involve cross-system integration, measurements, and analysis to guide measurement and mitigation efforts. Our team tackles real-world problems that don't generally have ready-made solutions.

Key job responsibilities

As the Software Development Manager, you will lead a team of Software Developers Engineers, Data Engineers, and Business Intelligence Engineers to deliver high-impact sustainability products and features. This includes driving the roadmap and delivery of the Customer Carbon Footprint Tool (CCFT), enabling the incorporation of Scope 3 emissions data, providing technical vision and delivery leadership for strategic initiatives, and partnering with various stakeholders. You will demonstrate influence and leadership through efficient and thorough communications, foster a highly versatile engineering team, and ensure exemplary technical designs and simple, flexible solutions are delivered. Key skill sets include proven ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams, strong project management and delivery skills, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, thorough understanding of software development methodologies, and deep knowledge of cloud-based architecture. Knowledge of sustainability concepts is a bonus.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
