Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Vancouver, British Columbia

Responsibilities

In this role you will be in charge of solving deep technical challenges that required operability at enterprise scale. AppsCore Service encompasses a set of services that power the extensibility platform across Teams and other Office products. Some of our offerings include policy management engine, app ingestion and distribution, eventing frameworks for fan out across services, Copilot extensibility components, and others.

  • Design, develop, maintain and evolve high-quality software applications.

  • Contribute to improve and refactor legacy codebase and migrate to modern architectures.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

  • Lead architectural discussions and guide the team in making informed technical decisions.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

  • Perform code reviews, mentor engineers, and promote best practices within the team.

  • Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure our products remain competitive.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of back-end experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with microservices architecture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Competent understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall

  • Proficient with problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio of personal projects.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $108,100 - CAD $199,700 per year.
