The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for the stewardship of the Port of Vancouver, Canada’s largest and most diversified port. Our mandate as a Canada Port Authority, as set out by the Canada Marine Act, is to enable Canada’s trade objectives, ensuring goods are moved safely and responsibly through the Port of Vancouver. That means providing infrastructure and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of marine traffic and cargo within the port. It also means we carry out reviews of proposed activities and developments on federal port lands and waters to determine whether a project can go ahead without impacts to the environment and community that cannot be mitigated.

As a Cruise Services Coordinator (Casual) , you will perform onsite liaison with the Cruise Ship Terminal Operator (the “Operator”) in the day-to-day cruise passenger and ground transportation operations, particularly during embarkation and disembarkation days. This position also provides operational guidance to the Traffic Attendant leads, cruise terminal users, cruise line partners, visitors, and contractors to ensure operational efficiencies at Canada Place cruise terminal. This position performs other related duties with respect to the requirements of the cruise terminal users, passenger, cruise lines and other users of the cruise terminals.

What youwill do:

  • Liaise with the Operator to ensureoperational efficiencies are maintained on a real-time basis, along withassisting in the day-to-day planning and execution of cruise operations.

  • Report non-compliance of all cruiseterminal services providers and users and escalate matters in a timelyfashion.

  • Prepare and complete variousreports, summaries and/or daily logs. These updates may include, but notlimited to, occurrence reports, weekly summaries, daily logs, CruiseDashboards, or status reports.

  • Liaise with Canada Place OperationsCentre, VFPA Operations Centre, USCBP, CBSA and service providers asrelated to operations.

  • Coordinate the on-site collectionof data by Traffic Attendants or hired consultants (e.g., taxi wait times,passenger journey times, etc.).

  • When required, direct vehicles,passengers, and general access to and from the cruise facilities at CanadaPlace, including customs and other restricted areas.

  • Assist in the coordination ofannual traffic attendant training and uniform requirements.

  • Support project and projectadministrative activities including budget updates, status reports andfollow up on open action items.

  • Participate in process and practiceimprovements specific to ground transportation vehicles, passenger flowand general access to and from the cruise terminal, including externallylicensed areas (i.e., parkade, convention centre), customs and other restrictedareas.

Whatyou will bring:

  • Completion of a one (1) yearfull-time post-secondary certificate in operations, marketing, or anotheracceptable certificate from a recognized educational institution, alongwith a minimum of 1.5 years related experience in a combination of cruiseservices, customer relations, marketing, operations, or logistics relatedfield.

  • Traffic control training andknowledge of a second language and possession of a first aid ticket wouldbe considered an asset.

  • The successful candidate must beproficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.

  • Experience with data collection andanalysis is also an asset.

Location: Vancouver, Canada.

Jobtype: Bargaining unit, casual, on-site. The Cruise Services department is an operation that runs 7 days a week, with peak shifts running from Thursday to Monday. Shifts can be scheduled any day from Monday to Sunday, and weekend work is to be expected in this role.

Working environment: Regular exposure to harbour and dockside conditions as well as passenger terminal industrial operations. Some normal office conditions.

Marine Transportation Security Clearance: The incumbent must apply for a Marine Transportation Security Clearance as defined by the Marine Transportation Security Regulations.
