Job Description

Banquet Supervisor

Engaging service, delicious cuisine and distinctive surroundings make every special event at Fairmont Waterfront a truly memorable affair. Your attention to detail and excellent communication skills as Banquet Supervisor will empower your team to deliver exceptional service to guests of our group functions.

 

What you will be doing:             

  • Maintains, enforces, and enhances the Fairmont’s Service Promises and standards as identified by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Food & Beverage Standards Manual with respect to product and delivery and acts as a role model for exceptional performance

  • Maintains a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance, assuming at all times a positive, helpful and supportive attitude towards every guest and colleague

  • Supervises floor activity, and leads by example

  • Maintains strong communication lines to the Banquet Managers and other Departments within the Hotel

  • Fully adopts and promotes all Company Health & Safety and Sustainability policies and procedures to ensure a safe and responsible work environment

  • Ensures targets are met and exceeded towards JD Power Meeting Planner Satisfaction, departmental productivity goals and Colleague Engagement opportunities

  • Conducts on and off floor Performance Management including conducting colleague performance reviews

  • Oversees and assists with Banquet Food & Beverage functions giving direction and training to service staff

  • Creates a liaison between the Kitchen leaders/colleagues, Banquet colleagues and Convenors of a given function

  • Monitors the Banquet Porters and Servers to ensure that all work is completed as required and specified on the function contracts

  • Assists the Banquet Managers as required in office work (i.e. billing, liquor consumption, scheduling, staff assignment, conducting performance reviews etc.) and other duties to be delegated and outlined by the Banquet Managers

  • Ensures that all Banquet equipment is maintained in perfect working condition

  • Performs Server/Porter/Bartending/Cashiering duties as required

  • Will be required to open or close the Banquet floor as business levels dictate

Qualifications

Your skills and experience include:

  • Post Secondary Degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management an asset

  • Minimum two years Banquet Leadership or Serving experience in a Luxury Banquet/Conference operation comparable to Fairmont Waterfront

  • Must have strong, proven leadership qualities and excellent communication skills

  • Ability to delegate tasks to team members and facilitate the completion. Encourages colleagues with positive motivation

  • Completion of Level 1 or 2 First Aid course is an asset

  • Must be a highly organized individual with the ability to handle a multitude of tasks, while maintaining composure, in an intense ever-changing environment

  • Must be effective at handling concerns in the work place including anticipating, preventing, identifying and problem solving when necessary

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sales & Catering Opera

  • Must be flexible in terms of working hours and availability to work a variety of shifts, including but not limited to mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, overtime shifts, split shifts and holidays

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.  The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
