GENERAL
The primary purpose of the Parents as Teachers Parent Educator is to provide families with research-based information, support, and
encouragement which will assist their children develop optimally from birth to 3 years of age.

QUALIFICATIONS
? Associate\'s degree in early childhood or related field required. Bachelors degree preferred.
? A demonstrated ability to work with young children and their families.
? Completed and/or maintained certifications in all required Parents as Teachers training; or be willing to complete all mandated
training including the week-long Foundational Curriculum and Model Implementation training.
? Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software; including the use of Excel spreadsheets and district email.
? Ability to use Google Drive and Google tools.
? Ability to interpret data.
? Knowledge of curriculum and instruction relative to the PAT program.
? Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of children from birth to 3 years old.
? Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
? Ability to communicate effectively with parents and young students from a variety of backgrounds.
? Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality at all times.
? Must be able to participate in work activities during the summer months.
? Must support district goals and objectives.
? Must hold a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Engage in recruitment activities and represent PAT in community outreach activities.
? Provide instruction to parents in developmentally appropriate practices for young children.
? Develop PAT program plans and budgets.
? Follow Parents as Teachers National Center and KSDE requirements and guidelines.
? Provide parent education through regular personal home visits implementing the Parents as Teachers Curriculum. Home visits
may occur on weekdays, evenings, and/or Saturdays.
? Maintain and submit all required family and program documentation, in a timely manner.
? Collaborate with other parent educators to plan and facilitate Group Connections and other group activities for families.
? Participate in reflective supervision and staff meetings.
? Plan and facilitate play groups and group meetings as directed by the PAT Coordinator.
? Create a classroom environment conducive to student learning.
? Conducts childhood screening programs.
? Develop and offer playgroups as required by PAT guidelines.
? Schedule and complete home visits as required by PAT guidelines.
? Maintain current and complete records.
? Makes referrals to appropriate agencies as needed.
? Assist with the selection and purchase of equipment and supplies for the program.
? Complete requested reports in a timely manner.
? Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules and the local board policy.
? Other duties as assigned.
? Regular attendance is required.
