JOB PURPOSE: The Dietary Aid/Cook is responsible for preparing, working with and delivering food according to the nutritional needs of the patient/resident, loading/unloading supplies, storing food/supplies, preparing salad bar; cooking duties as assigned, as well as filling in for the cook in their absence, and assisting cook with meal preparation, including actual cooking as required, providing food and customer service to patients, residents, and personnel while maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation and safety.
DESIRABLE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have six months or more of verifiable dietary setting experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Perform defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager. Perform cooking duties and provide assistance to the cook in the preparation of, including actual cooking as required, and service of meals. Meet scheduled meal and snack times. Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies and procedures. Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled. Assist in loading food carts, and serving meals. Setting up the dining room and serving residents. Wash and store dishes. Prepares meals in accordance with recipes provided. Maintains portion control and serves portions in accordance with special diets. Ensure proper sanitation and storage of kitchen equipment, food and supplies. Food temperatures are maintained at proper levels at preparation and throughout service. Understands modified diets and is a team player in working toward patient/resident nutritional well-being.
