Description of Duties:
The Assistant Director of Facilities - Custodial and Grounds Operations Manager is responsible for the management of the grounds and custodial maintenance operations for SUNY Polytechnic Institute's Utica campus.
The Custodial and Grounds Operations Manager will provide overall supervision of custodial and grounds operations and personnel. The position requires the review and prioritizing of daily work orders, and the review of completed work to ensure quality. This position will also require the oversite of SUNY property control, requisition, and disposal policies and will participate on campus committees, including Corporate and Campus Events (Logistics group).
This position will provide positive leadership and oversight to direct reports to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the department and Institution's goals and strategies. The position will establish recordkeeping to estimate annual budgets and report on annual expenditures.
Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $68,000 - $78,000
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization with experience managing people and resources for custodial and grounds maintenance operations.
This position requires experience in large building maintenance activities, landscaping knowledge, and athletic field maintenance, or related experience.
Candidate must possess excellent communications skills and have the ability to clearly explain the requirements of the custodial and grounds maintenance program to campus administrators, facilities personnel, students, staff, and contractors.
Must possess and utilize negotiation skills as well as understand conflict resolution methods and techniques.
Applicants must possess a valid New York State driver's license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in unionized workplace is preferred.
Knowledge of accounting, MS Word and Excel is preferred.
This is an essential personnel position for the maintenance and operation of the campus during an emergency situation.
