The Production Agronomist serves as a primary field contact for our hybrid seed production and is responsible for training and education of seed field employees and growers in agronomy, seedsmanship and safety.

This role will be on-site at our Corteva location. Work/Visa Sponsorship not offered for this role

What You'll Do:

  • Grower management and support (acreage planning, quality control, etc.)

  • Manage scouts and develop a cost effective, environmentally sound method of enhancing yields.

  • Coordinate production research programs at the location level including initiation and follow through of programs to address specific needs of the biological environment.

  • Supervise field operations and prepare reports as assigned.

  • Be knowledgeable about current agronomic practices and government agricultural programs.

  • Implement and maintain quality standards.

  • Administrative duties include, but are not limited to, providing proposals for the development of the plant location business plan.

  • Monitor field expenditures as assigned.

  • Work with field operations manager to meet with growers to formulate seed plans and manage field crews.

  • Decide priority of work activities appropriately to complete work with expected quality results and meeting deadlines.

  • Support and implement Digital Agronomy programs.

  • Participate in improvement programs (safety, efficiency, effectiveness) specific to Plant and Field environments to identify and communicate potential risks and benefits.

  • Promote a positive work attitude and cultivates harmonious relations.

  • Promote a safe working environment and manage Safety Programs as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in ag-related area

What Skills You Need:

  • 3-5 years experience working with seed growers and seed plant operations or equivalent education and experience required.

  • Knowledge of production agriculture and production plant operations; knowledge of field equipment; supervisory and team leadership skills; training skills; priority management and ability to adjust quickly to changing conditions.

  • Possess or be willing to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License administered by the Iowa Department of Agriculture

  • Good verbal communication skills; advanced level computer skills.

  • Willingness to work in a variety of conditions (field, plant, warehouse - hot, cold, dust, etc.); ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

  • Possess a valid drivers license. May require Class D license.

  • Ability to plan ahead, anticipates needs and events, and coordinate multiple activities occurring concurrently and simultaneously.

  • Take initiative and ability to work on own with minimal direction.

  • Ability to communicate in English and work with others in a team setting and of diverse cultural backgrounds and languages.

  • Work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
