Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and evaluate Linux operating systems from requirements through production stage, while making modifications as needed.

Essential Functions

• Research, write, develop, test, and evaluate operating systems and contained software.

• Work with teams to facilitate deployment related to operating systems.

• Determine purpose, application, and feasibility of new or enhancement of existing systems.

• Create and update documentation for designs.

• May provide or assist with training needs as it relates to new or existing software and product development.

• Work with external customers to troubleshoot and solve problems.

• Coordinate engineering efforts and provide engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.

• Keep abreast of new developments in the fields of engineering design, methods, and applications.

• Demonstrates support for company culture in their daily actions and behaviors.

  Qualifications

• Experienced engineer with 5+ years of career experience, with Bachelor's degree. 3+ years experience with Master's degree. 1+ years experience with PHD. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Bitbake/Yocto/Open Embedded

• Bootloaders, kernel startup, low level driver and system interaction

• Linux containerization technologies such as Docker

• Advanced source control management with git

• Open source contributions or familiarity with the practices of the community

• Trained in the use of C/C++, Python, Bash, and Linux embedded systems

• Knowledge of build systems for a variety of languages

• Skilled in API design and architecting software interoperability

• Ability to apply design theory and methodology including diagramming protocols and describing data flows

• Networking technologies especially layers 1, 4 and 7.

• ISO 11783, J1939, and Controller Area Networks (CAN)

• Travel may be necessary, based on position

• US Citizenship may be required, based on position

Minimum full-time salary range for this role is between $106,950 - $120,750 + bonus + benefits. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
