Anchovy Social is a is a rooftop bar from Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, inspired by the coastal spirit of our sister restaurant Maialino Mare downstairs. Anchovy Social serves seasonal cocktails, wine, and beer alongside shareable bites like Potato Chips Cacio e Pepe and heartier plates. It's the go-to for year-round waterfront vibes, after-work spritzes, and the occasional seafood tower. Anchovy Social is open year-round. Adjacent to the bar is a private events space offering the same rooftop views, outdoor space, and its own private bar. The sophisticated Thompson Bar Room in the lobby area is the ideal place to connect with friends, family, and colleagues. For Events, we offer soft, understated elegance in our event venues with a total of 7,000 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor spaces in a prime Riverfront location.

The General Manager plans and coordinates the operations of their business unit by working closely with the Director of F&B and they ensure that the operational areas of their business are aligned with the mission of the business and the vision and core values of Union Square Hospitality Group. This individual will be responsible for supervising Anchovy Social, the Thompson Bar Room, private event execution, IRD, and ensuring each of our guests has a warm and memorable experience. This individual will also ensure knowledge of and adherence to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures, and work to continuously build a high performance team. An integral member of the USHG leadership in Washington DC, this position must lead, inspire and embody our Family Values and our philosophy of Enlightened Hospitality in all interactions with our people, guests, vendors and the community.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Service Standards for all Front of House positions

  • Develop, update and adhere to a Training Manual & Cycle of Service Systems for all service staff that defines and articulates clear technical and social standards for service for all positions

  • Appropriately and effectively schedule all service and support team staff according to team and business needs

  • Ensure excellent service & hospitality is provided for all guests, community, vendors and investors

  • Effectively open physical operation/close physical operation

  • Ensure excellent maintenance and cleanliness of the front of the house areas at all times

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or Certification in Hospitality-related field or equivalent expertise gained from time on the job (specifically related to wine & beverage)

  • 2+ years of recent experience in a similar position and environment

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry

  • Proficient knowledge of relevant systems and processes including with applications and software

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Ability to lead and empower a team

  • Able to obtain and retain DC CFPM and DC ABRA licenses

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s degree

  • English fluency and Spanish preferred

  • Relevant DC area experience preferred
