This is an exciting opportunity in Auburn Hills, Michigan for a Electric Propulsion System Algorithm Development Engineer.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Design, develop, implement, and test control algorithms and software for electric vehicle propulsion systems. Plan, oversee and conduct controls system development. Develop control system and vehicle integration concepts, mechanizations, control logic and simulations. Validate controls system and vehicle integration performance compliance to specifications/requirements. Read and comprehend relevant electrical and mechanical hardware specifications. Create control strategies based on system hardware configuration that meet system requirements. Use model-based design tools to generate software that executes desired control strategy. Program embedded controllers with compiled software and verify performance using model-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop testing tools. Support development of controls to operate the propulsion system on test cells and in development vehicles. Specify and execute test cases on both propulsion system test stands and in full vehicle integrations. Refine and develop calibration strategieThas to optimize system performance and meet customer requirements. Document and present technical and program materials internally and to customers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree or its foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related field. Education and/or experience must include:

• Embedded Controls Algorithm Development on Hybrid or Electric Propulsion Systems;

• CAN communication protocols and related tools;

• MATLAB Simulink for Embedded Controls Development;

• C/C++ software language;

• Control system data collection and evaluation; and

• Microsoft Office Products.

Domestic travel required 10-20% of time. International travel required up to 10% of time. Must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
