Eaton Corporation Central Region Negotiation Application Engineer in Urbandale, Iowa

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Central Region Negotiation Application Engineer.

This position can be based out of the Central Region of the United States. Candidates must currently reside within one of the following states to be considered: Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Illinois, or Wisconsin.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $84782.25 - $124347.3 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

Eaton's Electrical Services & Systems team offers a comprehensive portfolio of services tailored for every stage of a power system’s life cycle—whether it’s design, build, or support. Our services integrate and optimize the elements of a power system to make sure it’s aligned with business goals. We can help keep your power system safe, efficient, reliable, and up-to-date.

The Power Systems Controls group is a full-service automation team. We have capabilities in design, engineering and commissioning of automation solutions for commercial, industrial, and utility grade power systems. Our team of engineers and technicians are experienced in a variety of power system applications and are responsible for implementing modern control designs for our customers.

The Central Region Negotiation Application Engineer will collaborate with Eaton’s construction sales and field services sales teams to provide customers with automation solutions contained in Eaton switchgear. This role is responsible for driving growth of the PSC business by developing technical solutions, cost estimates, and detailed proposals for automatic transfer schemes, generator paralleling controls, load shed, and MicroGrid applications (Battery Energy Storage Systems and Photo Voltaic Systems).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DIMENSIONS

• Quote Power Systems Controls opportunities in the US Central Region (North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio).

• Provide a monthly report out of negotiation activities

• Provide a quarterly presentation highlighting market conditions

• Review customer specifications and bid documents and provide custom proposals

• Document and organize all proposals on PSC’s share drive

• Develop pricing for common applications and integrate that pricing into PSC’s quotation tool

• Pursue professional development in areas of growing market opportunities

o MicroGrids, BESS, PV, Generator Paralleling, Brownfield

• Assist with order-entry and hand-off to PSC engineers

• Provide support to Eaton Application Engineers in efforts to influence customer and consultation specifications

• Work evenings or weekends to satisfy Bid-Due-Dates

Qualifications:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

-An Engineering Degree from an accredited institution and 3 years of experience in power system automation design, quotation, and programming, OR, in lieu of a degree, a HS diploma/GED with a minimum 7 years of experience.

-No relocation is being offered for this position. Candidates must currently reside in one of the states listed on the job description in order to be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

-Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

-EIT or Professional Engineer registration

-Electrical Engineering degree

POSITION CRITERIA:

-Knowledge and understanding of best engineering practices for design of automation systems, power management systems, human-machine interface software, PLC programming, etc.

-Knowledge and understanding of protection relays based monitoring and control systems.

-Understanding of the company’s and competitor’s automation systems and services.

-Strong computer literacy - Working knowledge of all software packages relevant to successful performance of tasks.

-Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with automation and power systems.

-Has demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.

-Excellent interpersonal and communication/presentation skills

-Experience managing own time, including administrative tasks, and prioritizes work to meet deadlines from multiple stake holders.

-Strong working knowledge of Eaton and competitor automation hardware including programmable logic controllers, remote terminal units and multi-function protective relays

-Strong understanding of multi-source and paralleling switchgear controls

-Ability to travel, up to 10%
