Position Summary:
The Electrophysiology (EP) Registered Radiologic Technologist will scrub, record, monitor and/or circulate diagnostic and complex electrophysiology procedures including EP studies, Catheter Ablations, and device implants (PPM &ICDs). The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Invasive Lab. The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive cardiology or invasive radiology study. The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS IEMA Radiography License Illinois upon hire Radiography (R)(ARRT) upon hire BLS within 30 days ACLS within 1 year SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and complete detailed work accurately. Demonstrates compassion and caring when dealing with others. Manual dexterity to handle small supplies.
Essential Functions:
Administers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
Anticipates set-up and needs for invasive procedures.
Assists with inventory/supplies.
Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc.
Administers medication in compliance with scope of practice.
Documents accurately and completely.
Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
Performs all essential functions of the Invasive Lab Radiologic Technologist.
Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.
Required to float to all procedural areas.
Maintains a clean and neat work area.
Demonstrates competence in the operation of imaging, physiological monitoring, and related equipment; Performs basic troubleshooting for this equipment.
Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
Administers and with holds contrast and treatment as appropriate. Assess patients for allergies.
Function as a scrub and monitor technician on a rotating basis during procedures. Assists physician during interventional procedures.
